Coventry City Council has recently collaborated with EON in promoting their Homes for Living programme, a scheme aimed at supporting people to live better for longer in the comfort of their own homes by installing discreet, minor adaptations free of charge.

How is this possible?

We are an ageing society and even though we should celebrate that we’re living much longer, it doesn’t necessarily mean that these extended years are spent in good health. The Government has therefore created a challenge fund and has asked businesses to help develop and deliver products and services that allow people to remain active, productive, independent and socially connected across generations for as long as possible.

Why are we doing this?

Studies have shown that making small changes to homes is an effective way to prevent falls and injuries, improving the performance of everyday activities and mental health. We’re working with researchers to learn about the impact of having the extra support and what we can do to encourage people to continue to be mobile and well.

Our delivery partners

This scheme will be delivered by our partners, E.ON Energy Solutions. E.ON’s dedicated Homes for Living Team will be responsible for the application process through to coordinating the survey and installation. Their trained associates, who specialise in adaptations will get the products installed into your home.

Who’s it for?

This scheme is open to all types of occupancy and eligibility is based on age (40+), household income and receipt of certain benefits by someone living in the property. You do not need to be an E.ON customer and you won’t be required to join E.ON or E.ON Next to benefit from the scheme.

What’s available?

If you are eligible for the scheme, E.ON’s Homes for Living team will arrange a time to visit and carry out a free home survey. It takes around an hour to complete and will help us recommend the best adaptations for your home. The adaptations provided to you will be dependent on your needs but could include any of the below products:

  • Plant pot holder
  • Toilet roll holder
  • Mirror shelf
  • Shower shelf
  • Shower riser rail
  • Bathroom caddy
  • Multipurpose shelf
  • Towel rail
  • Corner shelf

How much funding is available for your home?

All products and services offered by E.ON under this scheme are fully funded so you won’t be asked to pay anything towards the installation in your home.

How to apply?

To find out more please complete an online form and one of E.ON’s team will be in touch.

Alternatively you can email and quote ‘Homes for Living’ in the subject if you have any questions.

Once you’ve applied, E.ON’s team will be in touch to discuss and better understand your personal circumstances. A free home survey will be arranged with Pro-Care® to confirm the suitability of the products we can provide.

Once you’ve decided, they’ll arrange for these products to be installed in your home for free. If you would like additional products, you can purchase them by getting in contact with E.ON.

E.ON will continue to provide you with ongoing support. Warranties, guarantees, and terms and conditions will be provided on completion of the installations.

Additionally, as part of the scheme, we ask that you complete a 15-minute questionnaire on 3 occasions; one before you receive the products, the second one will be three months after, and the final one will be after six months. The feedback is key to building understanding and will enable our partners to continue developing suitable solutions designed to improve the quality of people's lives across the UK. In return, our partners will provide you with regular updates of their findings over the next three years and provide insights and solutions to help you and others live healthily and independently, for longer.
