Why we collect and use Personal Data about you

We collect and hold personal information relating to booking a ride on the Coventry Very Light Rail vehicle.

We use this information to:

  • Contact you if any details related to your ride change
  • Make sure we are reaching people from all backgrounds 
  • Complete statistical returns to Government departments

We process personal data because it is necessary to comply with our legal obligations and our lawful basis is Consent

What information do we collect about you?

Ride booking

The information collected will only be used to contact you should any details of your ride change

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Phone number

Demographic and ethnicity

The information collected will be used to ensure the Council are reaching under-represented groups

  • Postcode 
  • Age 
  • Disability 
  • Race 
  • Gender 

Who we share your personal data with

We will not share your personal data with any other organisations and will be used for internal use only. 

Anonymised demographic and ethnicity data will be shared with funders of the project.

How long will we keep your information?

We will only keep your information for one year so we can give you the service you need, unless we must keep it for legal reasons. 

Your rights

You have the right to:

  1. Ask to see the personal information we hold about you  
  2. Ask us to change information we hold about you if it is wrong 
  3. Withdraw consent at any time
  4. Ask us to delete the information we hold about you 
  5. Ask us to limit the way we use your personal Information  
  6. Complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office

Withdrawal of consent

Where personal data is processed based on consent, you will have the right to withdraw that consent. However, Coventry City Council processes personal data when it is necessary to do so to comply with our legal obligations and to enable us to perform tasks carried out in the public interest.

Complaints

You have the right to submit a complaint if you are unhappy with the way your data is handled or disagree with a decision made by the council regarding your data. In these circumstances you can contact the Data Protection Team (DPO) and request a review of the decision DPOTeam@coventry.gov.uk
