What is a Library Service Volunteer?
A Library Service Volunteer is someone who wants to share their interests, passion and enthusiasm for libraries and the services they offer with others. Training will be provided in all aspects of the post and the volunteer will be supported and supervised by the local library staff.

To volunteer in this role you will need to:
Meet and greet library users
Encourage reading and the use of other facilities within the library
Promote membership of Coventry Library Services
This role will suit people who:
Have a basic understanding of how the Library Service operates, either in general terms or from personal experience
Have the ability to communicate and engage with people of all ages, races, culture and abilities.
Have the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with library staff, other volunteers and members of the public
Are reliable, confident and responsible individual, with enthusiasm and effective interpersonal skills
Are confident with the use of ICT and technology
Have the ability to cope with the duties and responsibilities of the role and the associated environment, including an understanding of health and safety
Have a patient and approachable manner
Are able to follow guidelines/instructions
