NIHR Coventry HDRC Culture Change Webinar

The National Institute for Health and Care Research, Research Support Service (NIHR RSS) and Coventry HDRC hosted a webinar on culture change.

This week, three members of the Coventry HDRC team shared their reflections on the work that the Coventry HDRC has carried out so far, and its contribution to culture change.

John Wilcox (Head of HDRC) introduced Coventry HDRC, introducing Coventry as a Marmot City, providing an overview of the HDRC programme, and provided information about Coventry HDRC’s five pillars including: Data and Governance, Training and Skills, Public Involvement, Evaluation, and Impact and Implementation. Towards the end of his presentation, John reflected on the successes to date for Coventry HDRC at the end of our first three years of funding, also sharing key learnings and opportunities for future development.

Dr Jenny Harlock (University of Warwick/HDRC Secondee) introduced the work she has been doing as part of her HDRC secondment, conducting embedded research within the Council's Housing Team on the topic of homelessness and health. To begin her presentation, Jenny explored why housing/homelessness is a wider determinant and provided local Coventry context using key data and information. Jenny then moved into exploring her work completed so far, key reflections including an evidence gap within this topic, and stakeholder views. At the end of her presentation, Jenny provided some key reflections on her HDRC Secondment from both a personal and professional capacity and how she will continue her work as an academic researcher within the Local Authority.

Dr Chloe Ryder (HDRC Research Fellow in Quantitative and Mixed-Methods) introduced work being conducted in Pillar 1: Data and Governance. Throughout her presentation, Chloe provided a work-in-progress summary of the Coventry HDRC Data Catalogue. The presentation introduced the concept of the Data Catalogue, and why it is important for collaboration whilst working with the Local Authority and Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise’s (VCSEs).
