Adaptation and resilience to extreme weather events

Facing changes with extreme weather events due to Climate Change - how will it affect us and what do we need to do?

This week, the Coventry HDRC Lunchtime webinar was hosted by Bret Willers (Head of Climate Change and Sustainability at Coventry City Council). During his webinar, Bret talked about how extreme weather affects public health, various services, and community resilience.

Amongst others, he used examples from Coventry and Birmingham to emphasise the urgent need for us all to adapt, improve our resilience, and manage the demands placed on our emergency response activities. The webinar challenged public perceptions, showcased how important it is to work together in neighbouring areas and emphasised the importance of proactive, inclusive approaches to climate resilience. Bret also provided knowledge in his webinar to explain the health risks, economic costs and policy considerations linked to adapting to climate change. He also explained how these considerations can help build stronger communities.
