So What? Club March 2026

The Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC) Coventry organised another successful 'So What?' Club. We discussed unequal high streets.

Rachel Chapman, Public Health Consultant, along with Eve Eang, Research Assistant for the Coventry , hosted this month’s session.

Rachel presented the quantitative paper "Unequal high streets? A spatial analysis of inequalities in health-related amenities in England from 2014-2024". If you are interested, also take a look at the Critical Appraisal Skills Programme checklists to assess a paper's quality and usefulness.

Attendees had the opportunity to discuss the findings of the study and whether the methods were appropriate for answering the posed questions. We then talked about how the findings can be applied to work here in Coventry.

We were pleased to welcome 28 attendees. These included representatives from our partner organisations, including NIHR HDRC, as well as representatives from various Coventry City Council directorates, CV life, the University Hospitals Coventry and Warwick (UHCW), and other local authorities.

The next 'So What?' Club will take place on Thursday, 7 May, 09:30 am - 10:30am. Everyone is welcome to come along, regardless of their experience of academic research.

To register, please send an email to CoventryHDRC@coventry.gov.uk. You will then receive a calendar invite. Please also note that the 'So What?' Club is a safe space. The use of AI notetaking tools is not permitted and they will be removed from the session.

We are looking forward to seeing you at the Club!
