I enjoyed red flags because it addressed modern problems that are fueled by social media wich is a really large topic now . It also shows how social media is not always right. It also shows how social media is often leading us to sabotage ourselves and people around us . It can also show how even if things are hard for us to do if we 'stick it out' we can be rewarded in life .It was easy to read and not boring at all, and I liked how the characters weren’t perfect and actually made dumb choices sometimes because it made them more relatable. It also made me think more about trusting my feelings and not ignoring red flags just because I like someone. Overall I think this is a really good book, especially for teens, and I’d definitely recommend it to my friends

This book was one of my favourites off the simply shortlist! I don’t pick up romance books that much but red flags was amazing. This book is perfect for people who want that modernized 2000s rom-com type of book as it keeps the heart of those movies mixed with a modern vibe ! Poppy and Cam were fit for each other from the beginning and their relationship really shows how true love can come to you when you least except it ! Sophie Jo is such an amazing author I have to read more of her books !!! Overall this was amazing from the plot, the characters and their dynamics and more :)

Red Flags is a romance novel centred around two young people who are very picky about who they date. The book is about two people, Poppy and Cam, and it shows how they gradually stopped being so picky. I really like the fact that it was written in dual perspective so that we can see their interactions from both points of view.
another reason i liked the book was because the characters were very entertaining to read and i couldnt put the book down for a second because it kept reeling me back in . i also like that it was not always focused on the main characters [poppy and cam] but it also shone some light on thier friends lives and relationships. so overall i think this is an amazing book with good writing and great characters

  7. Poppy Says:

Red Flags by Sophie Jo is a funny YA rom-com that feels relevant to modern teenage dating. The story centres on Poppy and Cam, two people with opposite but equally disastrous approaches to relationships, who agree to stick it out for two months no matter what “red flags” appear. Sophie Jo’s writing is witty and fast-paced, with plenty of amusing moments, but it never feels shallow. The dialogue is natural and relatable, making the characters feel like real people rather than clichés pulled from a typical romance.

What really sets Red Flags apart is its thoughtful exploration of what healthy relationships actually look like. Beneath the humour and awkward situations, the novel raises important questions about communication, boundaries, and whether perfection is realistic , especially for teenagers still figuring themselves out. It’s refreshing, self-aware, and surprisingly heartfelt, making it more than just a light romance. Overall, Red Flags is an engaging, modern read that balances comedy with meaningful insight, perfect for fans of contemporary YA fiction.

I enjoy this book as it was really easy to understand and get into. The characters were really well written, each one with an interesting way to introduce the characters. It explores the highs and lows, the good side and the bad side about relationships and makes you wonder about the different ways people tolerate different situations. There were some witty moments giving it a genuine feel. I don't normally read romance books often or enjoy them but this one really changed my view about these kind of books. It is very enjoyable!

I came to love both characters, especially Cam who is both mysterious and kind at the same time. The cover is very vibrant and nice so in my opinion, this was a fantastic read!
