Sponsoring an overseas worker is a great way to diversify your workforce and provide the opportunity for a skilled worker to join the adult social care workforce in the UK.
Sponsorship licences
Apply for a sponsor licence [https://www.gov.uk/apply-sponsor-licence] - Easy application process that can be done without a solicitor on GOV.UK
Sponsorship Licences last for 4 years at which point you renew or cease sponsorship. Use Home Office Sponsorship Management System for input and recording
Benefits of sponsoring migrant workers
- Ability to attract globally for hard-to-fill roles
- Offers a potential route to attract candidates with time-limited visas
- Offers a potential route to employ staff already employed on time-limited visas
Other considerations
- Cost – for both you and the individual
- Mandatory reporting duties – need to be put on SMS system within 10 / 20 working days
- Planning – need to factor in time for Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) to be processed
- Slightly different route for sponsoring workers outside of the UK – Defined CoS
