Bin lorry driver strike action

Bin lorry drivers are on strike over a number of days. We apologise but this is out of our control. We are continuing to try and find a resolution that will get drivers back on the streets.

Bin collection calendar

January 2022

Following the news that bin lorry drivers are set to strike there will be no collections for the week beginning Monday 10 January and then drivers are on strike every Wednesday and Friday.

As a result, we are temporarily moving the scheduled Wednesday and Friday collections to a new day in order to make sure that everyone gets their household waste, which includes food waste, collected.

  • If your collection day is usually a Wednesday it will now be Tuesday instead.
  • If your collection day is usually a Friday it will be Thursday instead.
  • There is no change to Tuesday and Thursday collections.

This change will mean that every home in the city will get their household waste collected every other week.

Please note strike action means there will be no recycling collection.

We have really appreciated the effort local people have made to use the drop sites and to look after friends, family and neighbours who might not have access to transport. If you know someone who can’t get online to check their collection date then please help us by sharing this information with them.

We apologise to every Coventry resident. Unfortunately, this is out of our control.

We remain committed to continuing negotiations as we want to lawfully resolve this issue to ensure full service is resumed as quickly as possible.

In the meantime, we have put a number of plans in place to enable some collections to go ahead and to ensure that residents are able to dispose of any extra waste as easily as possible.

There is a range of ways people will be able to dispose of rubbish while we try to find a solution with the Unite union. We would like to thank the people of Coventry for their patience.
