Our Black History Month programme in October 2026 celebrates Black history, culture and creativity, while providing opportunities to learn, take part and connect with local communities.
The programme brings together a range of activities, including family-friendly events, creative opportunities, community entertainment and thought-provoking discussions. With a variety of events and activities, there is something for residents of all ages and interests to enjoy, learn from and experience.
The programme aims to make Black History Month accessible and welcoming to residents across Coventry, providing opportunities to come together, celebrate and explore Black histories and cultures.
16 October - Sip and Paint, 6-9pm
Beginner-friendly creative workshop ran by 2Pepper events combining art, mocktails and a live DJ celebrating Black music and culture.

24 October - Beach Inna Bondage, 4-6pm
Screening of Beach Inna Bondage: The Fight for Jamaica’s Coastline, followed by a hybrid panel discussion with contributors from Jamaica.

28 October - Creative Roots, 12-4pm
Family-focused outdoor art and craft event, featuring African and Caribbean-inspired creative activities, African masks, face painting, and henna.

31 October - Quiz Night and Open Mic, 3-6pm
Informal evening combining Black history and culture quiz rounds with local music, poetry and spoken-word performances.
