Are carers eligible for the Spring Booster?

Carers have not been highlighted as eligible for the Covid 19 booster this Spring, however, if you fall into one of the below categories you are entitled to one.

People who are eligible to get a booster through the NHS include:

• everyone aged 75 and above,
• care home residents,
• are aged 6 months to 74 years and have a weakened immune system because of a health condition or treatment

If eligible, you are encouraged to come forward as soon as you can. This is to give you the best possible protection. It is important to top up your protection, even if you have had a vaccine or been ill with COVID-19 before, as immunity fades over time and the virus can change each year.

If you are eligible you can book your COVID-19 vaccine on the NHS App or by visiting the NHS website. Those who can’t get online can also make a booking at one of the same sites by calling 119 for free. Where possible, you will also be offered the flu vaccine at the same appointment. We encourage you to take up this offer to get protected against both viruses in just a few minutes. If this is not possible, it is better to get each vaccine as soon as you can rather than waiting.
