Coventry City Council (CCC) Privacy Notice for Survey of Adult Carers 2025

Coventry City Council Complies with the Data Protection Act and the GDPR and is registered with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) as a Data Controller.  

This Privacy Notice explains how personal information is going to be used, what for, who it will be shared with and why. 

Why we collect and use personal information about you

We collect information relating to your views as service users on the impact of our services on your quality of life. Our lawful basis for collecting and using your personal information is Consent. All responses will be kept anonymous.

We use this information to:

  • include in national level Official Statistics reports
  • inform and support policy and decision making at both local and national level
  • improve care, services and outcomes for local populations
  • help carers make better choices about their support
  • to monitor how well services are provided and how these can be improved
  • find out about service user’s quality of life and the impact of services on their general health and well-being
  • the information you provide will contribute towards informing decisions that are in the public’s best interest, as a public authority it is necessary for us to collect this information for this purpose

  • your responses to the Survey of Adult Carers 2025 questions
  • any personal details you choose to share in the text box

Who we share your personal information with

We will share your responses with:

  • the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC)
  • we may share information you provide if we feel your responses indicate that we need to protect your health or safety

How long we keep your information for

We will only keep your information for as long as we need to so we can give you the service you need, unless we must keep it for legal reasons.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  1. Ask to see the personal information we hold about you  
  2. Ask us to change information we hold about you if it is wrong 
  3. Withdraw your consent
  4. Ask us to delete the information we hold about you 
  5. Ask us to limit the way we use your personal Information  
  6. Ask for human intervention regarding decisions made about you by a computer 
  7. Data portability (have your data transferred to another Authority) 
  8. Complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office

Complaints 

You have the right to submit a complaint if you are unhappy with the way your request is handled or disagree with a decision made by the council regarding your data. In these circumstances you can contact the Data Protection Team (DPO) and request a review of the decision.
