Government Subsidies

The Office for Low Emission Vehicles currently has incentives available to promote and increase the uptake of electric vehicles.  This includes the Plug-In Vehicle grant, Workplace Charging scheme and the Electric Vehicle Homecharge scheme.

Home charging

Currently home charge points are not available for those with on-street parking in Coventry, but cars can be charged at public charge points.

Off-street parking at home is ideal for electric vehicle owners.  If you are thinking about installing a charge point at your home, supplier information can be found on the Office for Low Emission Vehicles website.

Public charging

Electric car owners can park at the electric charging bays allocated around Coventry city centre and Memorial Park and Ride.

Coventry City Council has recently upgraded its public electric vehicle charging infrastructure.  The new charge points will be fast chargers and one rapid charger operated by Charge Point Services using the Genie Platform.  This will require registering with the GeniePoint. Network – Register to use the GeniePoint Network

Find your Nearest GeniePoint Charger.

GeniePoint Network pricing will be as follows:

  • Fast Chargers - Connection fee £0.50, Cost per kW hour £0.30p
  • Rapid Chargers - Connection fee £1.00, Cost per kW hour £0.30p

Parking charges will remain free until further notice.

Due to future regeneration plans in the city, we may have to move some of the charge points to different locations.  Please check the website regularly for updated information.
When using the charge points, please ensure that you have the correct compliant cable for charging your vehicle. Vehicle manufacturers can advise users.
