Certificate request terms and conditions
Coventry Registration Service can only supply certificates for birth, death, marriage and civil partnerships that took place in the Coventry Registration District.
Certificates for events outside the Coventry Registration District should be ordered from the register office in the appropriate district or the General Register Office.
A certified copy certificate will be supplied. This is a copy from an original register or record held by the Coventry Registration Service from July 1837 onwards. The certificate may be printed or handwritten depending on the format of the original entry. It will show all the details recorded in the entry.
You will need to provide an email address and preferably a daytime phone number with your request. We will contact you if we are unable to find the entry. Your order will be sent to the address provided at the time of ordering.
You can choose to have your certificate(s) posted via Royal Mail or alternatively, you can choose to collect from Coventry Register Office during office hours Monday to Thursday 9am to 4.30pm Friday 9am to 4pm.
Standard Certificate Service
The cost of this service is £12.50 per certificate. Coventry Registration Service aim to process applications within 10 working days.
Priority Certificate Service*
The cost for this service is £38.50. Applications received before 12pm Monday to Friday (excluding weekends and bank holidays) will be ready for postage the same day and sent by Royal Mail. For orders placed after 12pm Monday – Friday or on weekends or bank holidays, the certificates will be issued and posted on the next working day.
Refunds
Coventry Registration Service will refund the full cost of the certificate in the following circumstances, where:
- The record is not held by our registration district.
- The record is held within a register maintained by the General Register Office.
- The register entry does not match the information which you supplied on the application form.
- The order has been duplicated.
When a certificate is issued which matches the information given by the applicant, we will not provide a refund.
Cancellations
Once an order has been made, it cannot be cancelled or a refund given unless one of the above four circumstances applies.
