For the first time, Godiva Festival applied for the ‘A Greener Future’ environmental accreditation (formerly known as A Greener Festival).

This prestigious accreditation evaluates events on a range of sustainability themes, including waste and recycling, transport, food and beverage, social value, biodiversity impact, energy and power, water use and sustainable procurement.

To establish a baseline for future improvements and carbon reduction efforts, this year’s festival will act as a starting point for measuring its carbon footprint as well as providing the opportunity to set targets for future events.

The accreditation process is conducted by an independent third party, ensuring its credibility and transparency. With its first-ever sustainability policy and action plan in place, Godiva is committed to making the Festival a positive experience for everyone and that includes respecting the environment.

This year a range of low-carbon measures were introduced including providing accessible drinking water fill up stations, solar-powered lighting and using EV vehicles and e-cargo bikes to transport exhibition materials and displays etc

The festival also used artificial fuel powered generators which are greener substitutes to petrol and diesel, power generated by solar panel units, ensured recycling practices were in place, including food waste segregation, and even conducted a biodiversity impact assessment to enhance the site's ecological value.
