Why we collect and use Personal Data about you

We collect and hold personal information relating to Community Safety.

We use this information to:

  • Receive, assess, and investigate reports of anti-social behaviour
  • Provide support, advice, and safeguarding to victims and vulnerable individuals
  • Manage and progress anti-social behaviour cases, including enforcement action where appropriate
  • Assess risk, vulnerability, and harm
  • Work with partner agencies to prevent and reduce anti-social behaviour
  • Comply with our statutory duties under relevant legislation
  • Monitor service performance and contribute to anonymised statistical returns

We process personal data because it is necessary to comply with our legal obligations and Public Task under various UK laws including but not limited to

  • Anti-Social Behaviour Crime & Policing Act 2014
  • Crime and Disorder Act 1998

  • Coventry City Community Safety Partnership members
  • West Midlands Police
  • Registered Social Landlords and housing providers
  • Health services and mental health professionals
  • Probation and youth justice services
  • Safeguarding boards and statutory safeguarding partners
  • Other local authorities
  • Courts and legal representatives

How long will we keep your information?

We will retain records for 10 years after resolution, end of enforcement action or sentence period in accordance with the legislation.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  1. Ask to see the personal information we hold about you
  2. Ask us to change information we hold about you if it is wrong
  3. Ask us to delete the information we hold about you
  4. Ask us to limit the way we use your personal Information
  5. Ask for human intervention regarding decisions made about you by a computer
  6. Data portability (have your data transferred to another Authority)
  7. Complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office

Complaints

You have the right to submit a complaint if you are unhappy with the way your information is handled or disagree with a decision made by the council regarding your data. In these circumstances you can contact the Data Protection Team (DPO) and request a review of the decision.
