Opportunity to Become a Tile Hill Neighbourhood Board Member
Do you care about the future of Tile Hill? Would you like to help shape how £20 million is invested in the community over the next 10 years?
Tile Hill has been selected to receive up to £20 million through the Government’s Pride in Place programme. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to improve the area, with local people at the heart of the decisions.
We’re now looking for around 6 local people to join the new Tile Hill Neighbourhood Board.
Working alongside the independent Chair, Taiwo Owatemi MP and Coventry City Council, Board Members will help shape a long-term vision for Tile Hill and ensure the programme reflects what matters most to local residents.
What will Board Members do?
As a Board Member, you will help guide the Pride in Place programme by:
- helping develop Tile Hill’s 10-year Pride in Place Plan
- identifying the community’s priorities and helping decide how funding should be invested
- listening to residents and making sure local voices are heard
- working with local organisations, businesses and partners to maximise opportunities for the area
- attending Board meetings and contributing to discussions
- monitoring the progress of projects and ensuring funding delivers real benefits for the community
- acting as an ambassador for the programme and sharing updates with local residents
Who can apply?
We’re looking for people who are passionate about Tile Hill and want to make a positive difference.
Most Board Members should either live, work or have a strong connection to Tile Hill.
We want the Board to reflect the community and welcome applications from people with a range of backgrounds and experiences. This might include:
- local residents
- business owners
- community and voluntary organisations
- faith groups
- schools and education providers
- health organisations
- sports, arts and cultural groups
- local employers and public sector organisations
You do not need previous board or governance experience. Training and support will be available throughout the programme.
Board Member positions are voluntary, although reasonable expenses may be reimbursed where appropriate.
Board Members should:
- be committed to improving Tile Hill
- be able to attend Board meetings regularly
- sign up to a Code of Conduct based on the Seven Principles of Public Life (Nolan Principles)
- declare any actual or potential conflicts of interest
- work collaboratively and respectfully with others
- focus on what is best for the community rather than individual interests
- be open to learning and developing in the role
