#CovConnects - Learn to do more with the NHS App

Since launching in 2019, the NHS App has become one of the UK’s most popular apps to download.

Having the NHS App on your own devices means that you can order repeat prescriptions, book appointments, view your online health records, and more.

The NHS App is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and allows residents to access NHS services without the need to be held in a queue by busy practice telephone lines.

However, not all residents may feel empowered to access the NHS App themselves, whether through not having immediate access to a device or data, or not feeling confident in their own digital skills.

To increase engagement with the NHS App, we are holding ‘Learn with #CovConnects’ webinars for anyone supporting others to access and feel confident to use the NHS app, or are just interested in finding out more about the benefits. The session will consist of understanding the main features of the app, where residents might encounter barriers when signing up, how best to support resident's individual needs, and much more. Importantly we will also explore the importance of considering the barriers associated with digital exclusion and some informal tips and supports which can make a real difference.

#CovConnects are also holding free, in-person digital drop-in support sessions dedicated to the NHS App at various community hubs throughout Coventry in partnership with Sowe Valley Primary Care Network, Moat House Community Trust, AbilityNet and the Coventry Adult Education Service . These sessions act as relaxed, safe spaces to allow residents to learn more about the usefulness of the app.

Support around using the NHS App is also available in Coventry Libraries this February, as Libraries across the city are hosting NHS App drop-in help sessions to enable residents to learn to take control of their health and wellbeing.

There is lots of support across the city to empower residents to use the NHS App in a way that best suits them.
