Overview: Inspired by the rich tones and textures of autumn, this course offers an opportunity to further develop acrylic painting skills in a structured and supportive learning environment. Designed for learners with some prior experience, it builds upon fundamental techniques while encouraging greater confidence and creative exploration.
Through a series of guided, tutor-led sessions, participants will explore colour mixing, layering, brush techniques, and composition, with a focus on capturing the warmth and atmosphere of the season. Emphasis is placed on developing control of acrylic materials and understanding how to use colour and texture to create depth and interest.
The course supports both technical progression and individual expression, providing a balance of structured learning and experimentation. By the end of the course, learners will have strengthened their skills, expanded their creative approach, and produced a selection of autumn-inspired artworks.

ENGAGING WITH YOUR PERSONAL LEARNING RECORD (PLR) PAPERWORK
All community learning courses require learners to engage with Personal Learning Record (PLR) paperwork. At the beginning of the course, you will be supported in setting personal learning aims, which will guide your development over the duration of the programme. Your tutor will assess your progress at key points—at the start, mid-point, and conclusion of the course—providing written feedback to help document your learning and achievements.
What do you need?: - Acrylic paints (a basic set of colours)
- A selection of paintbrushes (varied sizes)
- Canvas board or thick acrylic paper
- Palette (or a disposable plate)
- Water container (e.g. a jar or pot)
- Pencil and eraser for sketching
- Paper towels or cloth for cleaning brushes
