Overview
This course is designed to support learners in advancing their oil painting practice within a structured and supportive environment. Aimed at those with some prior experience, it builds upon foundational techniques to develop greater confidence, control, and artistic expression.
Through a course of tutor-led sessions, participants will explore key aspects of oil painting, including colour mixing, layering, brushwork, and composition. Emphasis is placed on developing a deeper understanding of materials and processes, enabling learners to create more refined and cohesive artworks.
The course encourages both technical progression and individual creativity, providing opportunities to experiment with different approaches while strengthening core skills. By the end of the programme, learners will have enhanced their practical abilities and produced a selection of work demonstrating their growing confidence in oil painting.

ENGAGING WITH YOUR PERSONAL LEARNING RECORD (PLR) PAPERWORK
All community learning courses require learners to engage with Personal Learning Record (PLR) paperwork. At the beginning of the course, you will be supported in setting personal learning aims, which will guide your development over the duration of the programme. Your tutor will assess your progress at key points—at the start, mid-point, and conclusion of the course—providing written feedback to help document your learning and achievements.
