14-16 Pathway with Purpose (Sports & Fitness or Football Focus)
Course Outline
The course is designed to help prevent people who are 14-16 from becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) as they approach year 12 through active
engagement with the identified support transition to positive Post 16 destinations.
The provision provides a safe and effective environment where young people can work towards remaining in education and training as they approach this important
transition to Post 16 options. The program aims to empower students aged 14-16 by building motivation through
sports, fitness (or Esports) and also enhancing the young person's skills, knowledge of Post 16 options and qualifications in areas they are interested in.
A vocational qualification and academic learning takes the form of leadership qualifications using sports, fitness or esports to deliver the content and support wider
PSHE content and Functional Skills Maths and English support.
Course Modules
The program includes:
● Leadership/Sports Leadership qualification. This may include Level 1 or Level 2 qualifications based on the duration of the placement.
● Functional Skills Maths and English support
● Targeted PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic education) content to support student transition skills that are practical, emotional, and social for post-16 destinations.
● Confidence Building: Enhancing self-esteem and confidence levels essential for successful transitions.
● Leadership and team building skills.
● Individual careers guidance and information. Investigating different careers.
Support with options, planning and next steps
● Careers skills - CV writing, applications, personal statements and interview skills.
● Apprenticeships - college options, taster sessions. Online work experience where applicable.

Student Expected Outcomes
Achieve Leadership Qualification: Attain qualification in Sports or Esports Leadership.
● Improve Maths and English: Build core literacy and numeracy skills through
targeted Functional Skills support.
● Re-engage with Learning: Rebuild classroom confidence and motivation in small, supportive group settings.
● Future Plan: Obtain knowledge of Post 16 options and qualifications in areas of interest. Taster sessions. Support with college and apprenticeship applications.
● Careers skills: Practice CV writing, personal statements and interview skills.
● Grow Personal Skills: Improve self-esteem, social and team working skills,
and practical life skills
● Stay Supported: Receive extra help during college induction and follow-up checks to ensure the move is successful.

We understand that physical activity is a powerful tool for confidence building, mentorship, and personal growth leading to positive outcomes. We pride ourselves on creating a safe, inclusive environment where sport is used not just for competition, but to build resilience, social, and team skills that help students successfully transition back into mainstream education or future pathways.
