Our Games Design pathway is designed to support young people who are neurodiverse into Games Design courses. 85% of the current cohort at Coventry College are neuro diverse and it’s felt the other 15% are undiagnosed. People often think games design skills only apply to making video games, but the truth is far bigger. The core mechanics of game design—systems thinking, user experience (UX), 3D asset creation, and rapid prototyping—are highly sought after across massive global industries. Pathways into film, architecture, gamified education and eLearning production are possible.
Vocational and Academic Learning
The course is offered over two days – a media production day and a functional skills option. The course is designed for a maximum of 10 learners; however, we do consider the needs of the group when setting this maximum and can reduce it to suit need.
Media Production Day - Learners have the opportunity to progress through Level 1 Award to Level 2 Certificate in Working in the Digital Industries (AIM Group), dependent on how much time they spend with us and their entry point. For learners struggling to achieve academically, we also offer the Unit Award Scheme which uses task completion generating a certificate for each task the learner completes. Certificates can be used in applications and interviews for next steps.
Functional Skills Day (optional) - Tailored live, online English and Maths tuition. A programme is generated for the learner based on an initial assessment, delivered by CAP provider and specialist, Nisai Learning.
