This structured Alternative Provision programme uses non-contact boxing to re-engage learners in education while developing physical wellbeing, confidence, resilience, self-discipline and positive behaviour for learning.
Learners develop boxing fundamentals, including stance, guard, footwork, controlled combinations, defensive movement and fitness. These practical activities are combined with learning around nutrition, hydration, sleep, physical resilience, mental-health awareness, emotional regulation, teamwork, goal setting and positive decision-making.
English and mathematics Functional Skills are embedded throughout the programme and applied within meaningful boxing, health and wellbeing activities.
Course Modules
Learners complete an initial assessment and work towards Open Awards Functional Skills accreditation at the level appropriate to their individual starting point and readiness. Accreditation opportunities include:

Block 1: Foundations, safety and personal confidence Safety, expectations, movement, stance, guard, core punches, footwork, introductory defence, exercise and wellbeing, confidence and self-discipline),
Block 2: Technique, resilience and wellbeing Advanced footwork, angles, combinations, defence progression, nutrition, sleep, hydration, recovery, mental-health awareness and boxing knowledge.)
Block 3: Independent application, leadership and progression(Combination design, learner-led warm-ups and circuits, confidence through challenge, help-seeking, research, session planning, leadership and progression.)

Admissions Criteria
Suitable for: Learners who may be disengaged from mainstream education, at risk of exclusion or require a practical, relational and smaller-setting approach.
The programme may be commissioned as part of a part-time Alternative Provision placement, preventative intervention, reintegration plan, EOTAS package or wider education programme. Delivery is non-contact and adapted to each learner’s age, ability, needs, starting point and agreed placement outcomes.
