Hospitality & Catering Skills
Course Outline
A practical hospitality and catering programme built around the young person's interests, ability and starting point. Learners develop practical food preparation and catering skills while building confidence, independence and transferable life skills. English and maths can be embedded throughout practical activities, including reading recipes, weighing and measuring ingredients, calculating quantities, budgeting, planning and communication. Learners can work towards a recognised Open Awards qualification in Hospitality and Catering Skills.

Admissions Criteria
Minimum age 11 for the Open Awards Level 1 Award in Hospitality and Catering Skills. Suitability for the qualification and programme will be assessed individually.

Hospitality and catering can form part of a wider personalised Adapt Ed placement combining education, mentoring, enrichment and personal development. English and maths learning can be embedded within practical catering activities alongside the young person's wider education programme. Qualification pathways are selected around the young person's age, ability, interests, starting point and intended next steps.
