Sport, Leadership and Positive Pathways
Course Outline
This programme is designed to support Year 10 and Year 11 learners who may be at risk of disengagement, exclusion, poor attendance or becoming NEET. The offer uses sport, mentoring, leadership, employability and personal development to help learners rebuild confidence, improve motivation and progress towards a positive post 16 pathway.
Course Modules
Learners will develop the skills needed to assist with sport and physical activity. They will work on
communicating clearly, organising equipment, including others and understanding their
responsibilities when helping to lead an activity.
 Establishing leadership skills: identify strengths, set targets and practise the behaviours needed
to work well with others.
 Planning and assisting with activities: prepare suitable activities, help lead them under direct
supervision and review what worked.
The qualification develops supervised sports leadership. It does not qualify a learner to coach
independently.
