Cllr Welsh - Hi, I’m Councillor David Welsh and I’m Cabinet Member responsible for public art. I’m here today at the bottom of Hertford Street to explain a little bit of the work that is going on to The Phoenix here – a piece of artwork that was commissioned in 1962, it was recast in bronze but it needs a little bit of tender loving care, so the work is going on in the next few days to clean up the sculpture, to repoint the base and make it look really really smart. You’ll be aware of some of the work that’s going on in the area. We’ve got the new park here, we’ve got some of the lighting that’s going on from the station to this point and the work that’s going on up in Hertford Street with Morag as well. Some really really positive work in the area to get us ready for City of Culture. I’m really impressed with the work that’s gone on so far and I look forward to seeing this when it’s done.
