By the end of the day participants will: 

• Understand the Fight, Flight and Freeze response in the brain and how this links to developmental trauma 

• Understand the teenage brain 

• Understand how trauma presents itself in children 

• Learn the differences between mental health and psychological distress 

• Know when to refer to mental health services 

• Understand timing and different types of interventions 

• Have the opportunity to ask any questions relating to attachment, trauma, mental health and therapy. 

Get an introduction to the Dimensions tool and how this can be used in a social care setting 

The aim of this course is to enhance participants' knowledge, skills, and relationships in the context of effective direct work and communication with children. It also focuses on understanding child development and recognizing signs of abuse and neglect.

By the end of the day, participants will:

• Understand the Fight, Flight, and Freeze response in the brain and its connection to developmental trauma.
• Gain insight into the teenage brain.
• Recognize how trauma manifests itself in children.
• Differentiate between mental health and psychological distress.
• Learn when to refer to mental health services.
• Understand the timing and various types of interventions.
• Have the opportunity to ask questions related to attachment, trauma, mental health, and therapy.
• Receive an introduction to the Dimensions tool and understand its application in a social care setting.
