Councillor Jim O’Boyle: Hello, I’m here again in Upper Precinct. A quick update on the work that is still ongoing. I’m up on the balcony today. Why am I here on the balcony? Well, if you come down Upper Precinct you can see that we’ve finally installed, I’m just looking at them here, these new 1950s style railings. They’re Festival of Britain railings that were here actually originally and they were removed for some unknown reason. But as well as that, behind me you can see, we’ve got these lovely new lanterns as well. A recreation of what was the original Festival of Britain lanterns as well. So it’s really setting up the Upper Precinct and in particular the upper level, really really nicely in the way that perhaps people of a certain generation will remember. The other thing to say today, and I’m just looking at it over there, the cleaning of all of the footways is happening as we speak. That will be finished in the next couple of days. It’s coming up beautifully and it will be covered with a particular membrane so actually when people drop stuff, because inevitably I’m afraid, people will drop things on the floor, it won’t leave the sort of marks that people might’ve seen in the past. So that is really really positive, so as I often say when I do these videos, these railings, the lanterns, it’s a throwback to the 1950s. Again, the best of the old, with the best of the new.
