Hi everyone my name is Kimberly, it's spelt k i m b e r l x y. I'm from Coventry, I'm from meaning I’m from the Coventry side of the youthful cities project in partnership with Detroit and it's been a whirlwind to be quite honest with you. I haven't been as active as I as much as I've wanted to but it's been a blessing listening and being a part of this project when I can and creating um in my own space and then mixing with other people. it's been absolutely amazing, especially creating, collaborating from people from other from the other side of the world and not being able to see each other face to face because obviously when we got together it was in the midst of COVID and even in those just few sessions when we were just sharing our inspirations, sharing our own music as a talented bunch of people I've got to rep Coventry obviously Coventry has always had talent it's kind of like always been a dark horse but being able to collaborate with people in America like Detroit it's been absolutely amazing it's been a blessing and got some really amazing talented producers, songs, singer-songwriters, guitar players, drum players like you've got it all. So I feel like in the time that we've had to collaborate and make stuff I think this is probably going to be the highlight of my music career I can't lie. In this whole 2020/2021, in the midst of things it's one of the highlights because it's just been absolutely amazing to create music with people that necessarily have different sounds to you and meshing them together making something absolutely beautiful it's just it's been absolutely exciting and hearing other people's stuff as well and the dedication, the energy, the time that you put into something like this it's a beautiful thing to see not and not just here because obviously the creative side the creative industry is is looked down upon sometimes not as like a real career but people genuinely don't see the energy, time, sweat, tears and dedication and writing bars, making music, making sure the melody is right, the snares are put in, it's mastered properly, it's mixed properly so you can get that beautiful crisp sound that you hear when you do listen to music. So it's just so nice especially us for as under underground artists i'll consider ourselves to be now putting our stuff out there for people to listen to and take the time out it takes a lot of dedication because we run normal lives as well so it's just been an absolutely amazing journey and i feel like we've successfully done it in terms of collaborating not just with other people in Coventry but all across the world in Detroit, it's been absolutely amazing got some absolutely amazing talent over there and I feel like this will really help put Coventry in the map and to show that we have amazing talent and not we shouldn't be overlooked especially with the MOBO awards coming up which is in celebration of black music black british music in the UK and I feel like now if the mobo awards being in coventry is absolutely blessing. Knowing that I was born and raised in Coventry and being a musician I wanted to do music ever since I was like four years old and now everything just coming into fruition and seeing it come to light, especially with the black british awards being in coventry it's kind of it shows that our hard work has been put in vain especially me being a woman of colour in today's age it shows that I'm finally being recognized for something that i felt like I was in the dark for so long and being working with other African-Americans as well in Detroit mixing people from different backgrounds and culture is such a beautiful thing and I think that's what coventry is all about and when you see or hear these songs that we've been making I'm going to call it songs these absolute masterpieces that we've been making you I feel like you're going to see it come to light in fruition and I'm highly blessed and grateful to be a part of this project. well thank you my name is Kimberly and i can't wait for you to hear what we've got coming up very soon.
