Cllr O’Boyle - Well hello I’m giving my vertigo a workout today. Have a guess where I am. I’m at the top of the city centre library or perhaps for some of our more mature people who are watching this tonight the location what used to be the Locarno.  I'm here with Lowell Lewis whose Coventry’s Energy Manager and of course we're surrounded by all of the solar panels here on the roof here. So you want to tell me about what all this is about

Lowell -  Yes so we've been working hard this summer to prepare this building for net zero and so what we're trying to do is remove all our carbon emissions. So we've reduced our energy demand by changing all the lighting and even included a bit of a throwback to that Locarno days with some LED lighting in there. We've replaced with the gas boiler the existing gas boiler with a new air source heat pump so we're now getting our heat from electricity. We've included electric charge points down at the back so the vehicles are now electric as well for the library service and then because of all the electrification we've fitted these solar panels to generate as much of it as we can on site.

Cllr O’Boyle - Thank you Lowell. Well again this is our commitment to making sure that the council buildings that we own become carbon zero and this is a building that will now be carbon zero investing in the future investing in our climate investing in our planet Coventry’s plans to go carbon zero as soon as we can are really on track
