Cllr Hetherton -We're here today in Allesley Park in between the showers. we're having a look at the meadows that wildflowers are going to be sewn in the meadows across the city and we're starting here actually in Allesley Park because we want to explain to you what these yellow patches are in the park and what you'll see around the city. So, I’m going to hand over to my colleague here who will explain in more detail

Mark Yates - Thank you councillor we're sewing wildflowers once again as we have done for several years. We have to prepare the ground first of all by using a weed killer to kill off the existing sward, it's then cultivated and then sewn with a mix of annual species which provides all sorts of benefits not just in terms of its visual appeal but it also provides various food and nectar resources for pollinators such as bees and other insects and associated with that becomes the links up the food chain for small mammals and for birds and so everything that we see all around town should be of huge benefit to as a safe for both people and for animals.

Cllr Hetherton- Thank you, thank you so much, we know how much this matters to people it's really important. The bees, the wildlife, the wild flowers and so on. It is just absolutely lovely that they will actually flower from mid-June and continue through to the first frost in November we know how much you love them so we hope you'll enjoy what we're sewing this year and just have a look around the city in the roundabouts and all along the main roads and thank you for listening.
