The Prevent Duty came into force on 1 July 2015. The duty requires all childcare providers to “have due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism”.
This course will identify:
- What is expected of early education childcare providers in relation to the duty
- Build knowledge around the areas of extremism and radicalisation.
- Identify action that should be taken if you have a concern about a child, young person, or adult.
- The importance of British Values, democracy, rule of law, mutual tolerance, individual liberty.
Aim and objectives
- Understand the government’s counter-terrorism strategy and the Prevent Duty
- Identify what is extremism and radicalisation, who may be at risk and how to support them
- Identify characteristics that may indicate a person is susceptible to radicalisation
- Identify the role of those in leadership positions in an early education environment
- Understand what providers must do to comply to meet Ofsted requirements of the Prevent Duty
- Understand what to do if you have a concern
- Relevance of Equality Diversity and Inclusion in relation to British Values
