Course Information

The aim of this course is to help participants understand what being a special guardian means and their role in their child’s life. It aims to provide clarity about the legal responsibilities involved as a special guardian, as well as examining the impact of trauma and loss on children in relation to their previous experiences. Additionally, the course seeks to support participants in building and maintaining positive relationships and attachments with the children in their care, while considering the impact on themselves and their families. It also aims to help participants understand the support their child will gain from their education provider and what a support plan may entail.

By the end of the session, participants will have access to information, advice, and signposting to services and support that will enable them to make informed decisions about becoming a Special Guardian and to thrive as a family.
