Course Details:

The Care Act 2014 has had a significant impact upon the way local authorities assess care needs and arrange services for individuals ‘in need of care and support’ and their carer’s. This practice-based course, aimed at social care/health care staff and their managers, reviews the main changes brought in by the Care Act and, through examples and discussion, examines how local authorities are now expected to carry out their social care role

Course Outcomes:

By the end of the course participants will:

• be aware of the main changes brought in by the Care Act and Regulations, and have an

overview of the key features of the Statutory Guidance.

• have a thorough understanding of the assessment framework and eligibility criteria in

relation to both adults in need and their carers.

• have an overview of the rules on ordinary residence and how these relate to s.117

Aftercare.

• feel confident that they can apply the legal framework in their practice.

This is an interactive course. Participants should be ready to contribute from their own experience.
