Course aim

The training aims to enhance foster carers understanding of how they can support the education of children in care, through promoting a good level of attendance, being proactive in attending PEP meetings to advocate for the young person and supporting with learning at home.  

 

Course outcomes

Foster carers will have a good level of understanding of the role of the Virtual School  

Foster carers will have a good level of understanding of the importance of promoting a good level of attendance for children in care 

Foster carers will have a good level of understanding of how they can support educational attainment of children in care through working collaboratively with schools and promoting home learning  

Foster carers will have a good level of understanding of how they can support education of children in care by being proactively involved in the PEP process to advocate for the young person.
