During skills session students will be building confidence and testing themselves in an environment that is physically and emotionally challenging.
These sessions are a stepping stone to helping students work themselves back into education. Helping students who have various needs that prevent them accessing education, these skills sessions aim to help remove various barriers to learning - Course Modules

Reengage 6 session program.
Session 1: Knife work
- Safe working and knife use with safety equipment explanation. - Students will be able to perform a stop cut.
- Use a knife to clear bark from a piece of wood.
- Students will learn how to use a knife to batten wood to make kindling.
- Students will be able to use a knife to create a feather stick for fire lighting.
- How to maintain and clean a knife blade
Session 2 :Hatchet work
- Safe hatchet work and safety equipment explanation.
- Student will be able to use a hatchet to create a point on a stick.
- Student will be able to safely use a hatchet to split wood.
- Student will be able to create a “V” cut into a log.
- How to clean and maintain a hatchet head.
Session 3 :Hand saw and bow saw work
- Safe bow saw and hand saw work with a safety equipment explanation.
- Students will be able to safely use a hand saw.
- Students will be able to safely use a bow saw. Students will be able to use a bow saw alone and with a partner.
- How to maintain bow saw and hand saw.
Session 4: Tools competency assessment
- Students will be given a recap on all tools used and PPE
- Students will be shown how to use all available tools to create a tent peg.
- Students will then be given all the equipment and will need to create three tent pegs.
- Once students have completed task students will be awarded a certificate of tools competency.
- Game play afternoon
Session 5:Fires safety and fire setting students will understand the fire safety rules and PPE.
- Students will be able to prepare various ways to start a fire. students will be able to use a variety of fire lays.
- Students will be given the correct way to extinguish a fire.
- Students will be given the time to start maintaining and extinguish their own fire.
Session 6:Shelters
- Students will understand the safe ways to use various natural and manmade shelter materials.
- Students will be able to put up a selection of shelters using a tarp.
- Students will understand how to make an emergency shelter using natural materials.
- Students will understand the environmental impact of shelter building.

- Student Expected Outcomes
- Students who attend re-engage will learn various bush craft skills and gain a knowledge of certain life skills on a basic level. Students will work towards an in-house tools' competency certificate. These skills can be taken forward and used in the family setting for BBQs and camping holidays etc
