The aim of this qualification is to offer learners learning packages in areas of interest that deliver an introduction to the motor vehicle industry providing an overview of potential occupations and job roles within.
The overall aim is to provide both experience and knowledge on which to base future career and associated progression decisions and to enhance employment prospects.
Alongside this qualification students will also be working from PSHE Workbook to enhance their own personal development. Each learner will experience go karting at the end of this session. - Course Modules

Unit 1: Health & Safety for Motor Vehicle Studies
Learners will explore the responsibility of the employer and employee and the requirements of basic health and safety legislation. Learners will identify workshop hazards and basic safety procedures.
Unit 2: Introduction to Vehicle Inspection
In this unit the learner will learn the different types of vehicle inspections and how to carry out each to a specification. The learner will find out about the reason for using and completing service records.
Unit 3: Introduction to Spark Ignition Power Units
In this unit the learner will find out about the main components of an engine, the operating principles of the four-stroke spark ignition engine and the function of gaskets, seals and locking devices.
Unit 4: Developing Skills in Assembling Mechanical Components
This unit will enable learners to develop manual skills when working with basic assembly tools, so that they can apply them to assembling a product from a small number of mechanical components.
Unit 5: Electrically Propelled Vehicles
Learners will understand how electrical vehicles are propelled and be able to identify the vehicle's major components including understanding the differences in maintenance and repair in relation to a combustion-propelled vehicle.
Unit 6: Track Design and Repair
Learners will understand how electrical vehicles are propelled and be able to identify the vehicle's major components including understanding the differences in maintenance and repair in relation to a combustion-propelled vehicle. - Awarding Body
