Course Outline
This course is designed for young people who are exploring their own gender identity. The course is tailored for 1:1 delivery, offering personalised support in a safe and supportive environment where students can learn, reflect, and express themselves at their own pace. Through thoughtful discussions, practical activities, and self-reflection, the course will help students better understand their gender identity and how to navigate their personal journey.
Course Modules
Week 1: Exploring Gender Identity
• Topics Covered:
o Introduction to gender identity and personal exploration.
o Understanding the spectrum of gender: binary, non-binary, and beyond.
o Safe space for sharing personal experiences and understanding individual journeys.

Week 2: Self-Acceptance and Affirmation
• Topics Covered:
o Building self-acceptance and affirming your gender identity.
o Strategies for dealing with internal conflicts and self-doubt.
o Discussing the importance of self-love and mental well-being in the gender journey.

Week 3: Navigating Relationships and Social Spaces
• Topics Covered:
o Exploring how gender identity affects friendships, family dynamics, and social interactions.
o Communicating your identity to others with confidence.
o Building healthy support systems and navigating difficult conversations.

Week 4: Taking Time: Balance, Reflection, and Decision-Making
• Topics Covered:
o The importance of balancing emotions with careful decision-making on your gender identity journey.
o Understanding that exploring gender identity is a personal process that takes time.
o Avoiding rushing into decisions about transitioning; exploring all options to ensure the path aligns with your true self.
o Discussing long-term consequences and ensuring any decisions are well thought out and supported by trusted professionals and community members.

Week 5: Understanding Transgender Rights and Advocacy
• Topics Covered:
o Learning about transgender rights and legal protections.
o How to advocate for yourself and others in education, healthcare, and public spaces.
o Empowering youth to take control of their narratives and stand up for their rights.

Week 6: Moving Forward with Confidence
• Topics Covered:
o Celebrating personal growth and reflecting on your journey so far.
o Setting personal goals for the future, whether related to gender identity, relationships, or mental well-being.
o Building resilience and confidence to thrive in all areas of life, with an emphasis on self-care and ongoing support.

Assessment and Evaluation
• Participation: Active engagement in discussions and sharing experiences.
• Personal Growth: Reflecting on individual progress throughout the course.
• Final Session: Each participant sets personal goals and identifies support networks to continue their journey after the course.


By the end of this course, participants will have developed a deeper understanding of their gender identity, gained confidence in navigating social spaces, and learned the importance of taking time for reflection before making significant decisions. They will be equipped with tools for self-advocacy, emotional well-being, and planning for their future with clarity and balance.
