Course Outline
Peer led programme exploring the dangers and consequences of gang involvement, grooming and criminal exploitation including county lines and cuckooing. We use open discussions, real examples and provide tools and techniques to help young people make safer choices.
Course Modules
The programme includes:
• Understanding gangs and differentiating between friendships and gangs; challenging myths and stereotypes
• Challenging mind-sets and attitudes towards gangs
• Statistics and facts highlighting how gangs operate and exploit young people
• Looking at why people join gangs, examining the perceived benefits vs. the risks and consequences of involvement
• Looking at what county lines are and how young people can be exploited to become involved
• Cuckooing and methods in which gangs take control of vulnerable people
• Understanding criminal exploitation, joint enterprise, and the long-term impact of involvement
• Looking at factors of vulnerability, the art of control, how it causes ambivalence and how young people can protect themselves
• Developing critical thinking skills to enhance decision making in the context of gangs, associates, criminal or negative behaviour
• Building confidence and developing self-belief

Outcomes include:

Admissions Criteria
For young people who have a known history of gang or county lines involvement OR who are at risk of becoming involved in gangs and county lines
Staff Experience
Staff have lived experience of overcoming life challenges and utilise this experience to connect and build relationships with young people. Staff are experienced in delivering mentoring and group programmes to young people (2+ years), hold Level 3 Award in Education and Training, minimum Level 2 safeguarding, PREVENT, GDPR, professional boundaries, Level 2 Health and Safety and risk assessment training.

Additional Notes
This course is delivered over a minimum of 1-hour long session per week. The course can be delivered on a one-to-one basis or in a group setting with up to 5 young people. There is an option to extend if required.
Cost of Course
Face to face mentoring (1:1) - £220 per hour per young person if booked by the hour. Digital mentoring (1:1) - £80 per hour per young person. £400 per half day (3 hours) - Can be for a group booking or multiple one to one sessions (maximum of 3 sessions). £700 per full day (6 hours) - Can be for 2 X group bookings or multiple one to one sessions (maximum of 6 sessions)
