Stepping Stones Programme
Course Outline
A 6-week allotment-based outdoor learning programme supporting improved confidence, resilience, teamwork, and mental health and wellbeing. Nature connection is the platform used to build self-esteem through positive connection with self, others and the environment.
Course Modules
"Course Units: (These activities are seasonally themed and differentiated based on Key Stages)
1. Introduction to Personal Development and Bushcraft and Survival: Nature connection, Nature based games and activities; Identifying strengths, setting goals, and celebrating achievements, Gratitude Practice, Bushcraft and Survival Skills
2. Resilience and Emotional Wellbeing Techniques for coping with stress, managing emotions, and reflecting on personal growth through Bushcraft and Survival Skills skills and Woodland Walks
3. Environmental Stewardship and Sustainability - Practical Outdoor Skills and Allotment-based learning: planting, food growing,– Creating a Sensory Garden and Habitat Creation through building a pond, Biodiversity in action at the Bird Hide
4. Healthy Lifestyle and Mindfulness: Exercises in relaxation and mindfulness, nature-based reflection, and understanding the link between physical activity, nature connection and wellbeing through Bushcraft and Survival.
5. Creative Production: Wildlife photography and film making, Natural Art and Nature based Music Making
6. Personal Reflection and Next Steps Journaling, group discussions, and planning for continued development beyond the course."

Admissions Criteria
For young people (Tiers 1 and 2) with emerging social, emotional or mental health needs who would benefit from allotment-based outdoor learning and wellbeing support.
Staff Experience
Alex Hampson has over 20-years of outdoor education experience and has NCFE Level 4 in Advanced Bushcraft and Outdoor Education qualification.
Geeta Sarcar has over 20-years experience in working with children and young people, qualifications - PTLLS, MA (Design and Digital Media), BA Hons Political Science, Daryl Clough is Project Assistant with 3-years of delivering outdoor learning at Wild Earth.
