Positive Choices are commissioned by the Coventry City Council and Public Health England to support young people and families in Coventry. We are made up of professionals from a range of backgrounds, including teaching, the police, mental health and social care.
This substance misuse course is aimed at those young people who are currently or have previously been using illegal drugs and/or alcohol. It will provide factual information around substances, along with their impact on health, wellbeing and lifestyle. The course is aimed to empower young people to make their own informed choices with a clear picture of the potential impact of their choices.
Course Modules
The 6 week course will include sessions on:
- Understanding drugs and alcohol.
- Understanding the different types of addiction.
- Mindsets
- Identity.
- Lifestyle trade-off.
- Why change my drug/alcohol use?

Staff Experience
We are highly qualified practitioners, adept in the adoption of Psychosocial Interventions, including Motivational interviewing, solution-focused interventions and cognitive behavioural interventions to support behavioural change.
We have qualified acupuncture and sleep therapists as well as specialised staff who support with drug/alcohol use, relationships, online safety and sexual health, children affected by parental substance use and we are also qualified to support parents. We can also offer progression and development opportunities for young people through our volunteer and peer mentor programme and qualifications.
Our service is free and voluntary, and we work on a consent basis.
