Overview
Dance for Wellbeing is a holistic class designed to enhance physical, mental, and emotional health through the joy of movement. This course uses contemporary as its foundation but combines various dance styles, mindfulness practices, and relaxation techniques to promote overall wellbeing. Learners will explore creative expression, improve their fitness levels, and connect with others in a supportive environment.
Course level and content
This course is a open to all levels, including beginners, with no prior experience. The tutor will provide modifications within the class to enable you to work at the correct level for your ability.

• Warm-up sequences to ensure that the mind and body are prepared for class. This includes engaging in phrases that warm and limber the muscles, improve overall strength and flexibility through technique.
• Choreographed performance routines, giving you the opportunity to learn a variety of movement phrases and sequences as part of a group class.
• Mindfulness and Relaxation, Guided mindfulness exercises and techniques for relaxation and stress reduction.
• Creative Expression such as group activities to foster creativity and collaboration
• Cool Down/Reflection on the session and its impact on wellbeing.
What do you need?
• Bare feet, Foot undies, ballet shoes, jazz shoes, or footwear that is flexible, non-slippery and supportive.
• Loose comfortable supportive clothing which allows flexibility of movement
• Bottle of water
• Sweat towel if required
What can I do next?
Progression routes include enrolling on another dance courses such as Lyrical Contemporary Dance – For Wellbeing, Line Dancing – Beginners and Ballet courses. There are opportunities to perform and participate in celebration events throughout the year.
