Discover the transformative power of dance in this beginner-friendly course combining the passionate rhythms of Flamenco with the smooth, flowing movements of Bachata. Designed to enhance both physical health and emotional wellbeing, this unique fusion invites you to connect with your body and rhythm in a supportive and joyful environment.
You will learn to express yourself through movement, focusing on your own connection to the music with your body. Through mindful movement, rhythmic exploration, and expressive dance, you will improve coordination, posture, and confidence.
Each session integrates Flamenco techniques with the playful sensuality of Bachata, creating a balanced experience that nurtures mind, body and spirit.
ENGAGING WITH YOUR PERSONAL LEARNING RECORD (PLR) PAPERWORK
All community learning courses require learners to engage with PLR paperwork. At the start of the course, you will record and update your learning aims, which you’ll work towards over the duration of the course. This course is an open level suitable for beginners, learners can enrol on the course with little to no prior experience. The tutor will also provide modifications within the class to enable you to work at the correct level for your ability.
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
• Warm-up sequences to ensure that the mind and body are prepared for class. This includes engaging in phrases that warm and limber the muscles, improve overall strength and flexibility through technique.
• Dance techniques How to combine Flamenco’s intensity with Bachata’s fluidity in fusion exercises. Flamenco hands and arm movements ‘Braceo, Floreo’, and foot work ‘Taconeo’ combined with basic Bachata steps, hip movement and rhythmic flow.
• Choreographed performance routines, giving you the opportunity to learn a variety of movement phrases and sequences as part of a group class blending both styles. No partner required.
• Brief History of Flamenco and Bachata
• Cool Down/Reflection on the session and its impact on wellbeing. - What do you need?

For all your Flamenco Bachata classes:
• Wear comfortable clothes
• Non-slippery two-inch-thick heeled shoes, if you have them, or comfortable shoes
• Bottle of water

WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?
Progression routes include enrolling on another dance courses such as Lyrical Contemporary Dance – For Wellbeing, Line Dancing – Beginners and Ballet courses. There are opportunities to perform and participate in celebration events throughout the year.
