Overview
This is an introductory workshop to give parents basic information about how Makaton can be used as a communication tool for families with young children. Suitable for any pre school child and children with SEND. We focus on words and phrases that can be used in daily family life, using activities and resources that you can take home and use with your family at home.
Course level and content
The session will be fun and practical with lots of information, activities, and resources for you to use at home. You will need to be able to read and speak English to Entry L3 minimum.
What do you need?
There are no formal assessments on Family Learning courses. You will improve your knowledge and skills so that you can move on to a Functional Skills course if that suits you.
You need to be a parent / grandparent / carer of a child aged 0-7. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. When the course is full, no other enrolments can take place.
To enable you to fully access the information and activities on this course you will need to be confident in Speaking and Listening at E2.
