Ignite Talent Development Programme

This programme was launched in response to the Council signing up to the WMCA's Inclusive Leadership Pledge, to support more employees from under-represented groups into leadership positions.

A comprehensive six-month talent development programme available to Grade 5-8 employees who are from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds. The programme aims to ignite participants' potential and provide opportunities for them to overcome some of the barriers they may have experienced when navigating their careers. Those on the programme are supported by their line managers and a sponsor from the Senior Leadership Team.

Calibre Talent Development Programme

For employees who identify as neurodiverse or disabled, or who have a long-term physical or mental health condition.

The programme aims to transform how disabled employees think about themselves and their disability, and to show them how to take control of the discussion in a constructive way. Disabled employees face unique challenges, and this programme equips them with the skills they need to enable them to thrive in a variety of roles and positions. The programme has its foundations within the Social Model of disability, which says that disability is created by barriers in society, rather than caused by an individual’s health condition or difficulty. Programme participants share experiences with fellow colleagues, learn about their legal rights and responsibilities and engage with a new way of thinking about disability in the workplace.
