COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

This is affecting us all at work and at home. We’re working hard to keep services running and will focus our efforts on the most critical elements. In doing so disruption to many services is likely.

Rough sleeping

Coventry City Council works with the Salvation Army to provide hostel accommodation for single people who are homeless on the night. The Salvation Army can also put you in touch with other services which will be able to help you and the Council's Homelessness Prevention Team. Our leaflet provides more information.

You can self-refer using 024 7771 4443 or by dropping into the Harnall Lifehouse. The Lifehouse also runs a drop-in day centre.

If you are a victim of abuse or violence and are sleeping rough, you should get in contact with CDVASS or Coventry Haven.

Read our self-help pack if you are single or a couple with no children and you are homeless right now.

Health advice

The Anchor Medical Centre provides services to homeless and vulnerably housed adults in Coventry.

For information and support for substance misuse, see the Alcohol, drugs and substance abuse section of the website.

Accessing the Homelessness Prevention Service

The earlier you get in touch with us, the more likely we’ll be able to resolve your housing situation. Call the Homelessness Prevention Service on 024 7683 4025.

Priority need

Due to new homelessness legislation, you are not required to have priority need or links to a council area (local connection) to access the Homelessness Prevention Service. Priority need will only be taken into account to decide whether you are entitled to interim accommodation under a relief duty or owed a main housing duty.

This means that we may provide you with short-term accommodation if you meet a certain level of need. We will look at your situation and any people who are dependent on you to make a decision.

For further details on what gives you a priority need or a local connection, call Shelter on 0808 800 4444 and see the government's code of guidance.

How do I help someone who is rough sleeping?

You can tell us about someone sleeping rough through StreetLink.
