The site (a surface car park) is located in Coventry City Centre to the north-west of junction 4 of the ring road. The site is located at the bottom of Whitefriars Street, and adjacent to Coventry University campus buildings. The City Council is freeholder and there are no third-party leaseholds on the site.

The site totals 0.568ha and is positioned between two major heritage assets; the Whitefriars Monastery to the south-east and the Whitefriars Gate, which would have historically served the Monastery, to the west, both dating back to the 14th century.
