Officers carry out regular checks to make sure that premises in the city comply with the smoke-free law. 

What the law says about smoking in public areas

In July 2007 it became illegal for people to smoke in all places of work used by more than one person and in places open to the public which are enclosed or substantially enclosed. It also became law that smoke free signs are put in place.
