The financial assessment will determine how much if anything you may be asked to pay towards services or to supplement a direct payment, should you decide to arrange your own services.
Who completes the financial assessment
A financial assessment officer will contact you to arrange a convenient time to meet you and any financial representative you have to undertake the financial assessment. They will also be able to carry out a benefits check to see if you are eligible for any other benefit.
Calculated charges
If you are not exempt and have savings above £23,250 you will need to pay our maximum charge for your care service. In addition, you will be charged an administration charge of £227.05 at the start of your care package and an annual charge of £123.85 on the anniversary of the start date of your care package. Many people who use care and support services will pay for all of the costs. This is known as being a "self-funder".
If you are not exempt and have savings below £23,250 your assessable weekly income will be calculated by a financial assessment officer who will come to see you to complete a financial assessment. The financial assessment will determine if you need to pay a charge for your care services by subtracting a series of allowances from your assessable weekly income.
Charges for meals and transport are charged on a flat rate basis to all clients irrespective of savings or income.

Paying for your care
If you have been assessed to pay a charge towards an arranged care package you will be sent an invoice showing the balance of your account every four weeks. These invoices will show any amendments to the weekly charge.
Payment by Direct Debit is the preferred method of payment.
You can also make a care payment online. From the Account Group options, choose 'Bill or invoice payment' from the drop down list then 'Invoice' from the Account Type list.
If you would like to find out about other forms of payment, please contact us.
Paying your assessed charges using a Direct Payment
If you choose to receive a direct payment, you will be expected to pay your assessed contribution in to your Direct Payment bank account. We will also pay our contribution into this account.
