An open evening is being held this week to help people learn more about becoming a social worker in the city.
The event is being held to coincide with the massive public interest generated by Channel 4’s ‘Kids’
Over the past three weeks the series has fascinated viewers with its open, honest and touching close-up look at six remarkable teenagers and their families in Coventry, as they enter a crucial year in their lives and prepare to leave the care system.
It has also shown the dedicated social workers and foster carers who are helping them through difficult times and making sure they get the support they need to get the best possible start in life.
Now an open evening for prospective social workers will be held on Thursday (25 May) at the Council House from 4pm – 8pm.
It will help those interested to discover more about Coventry, the Council’s current initiatives, and the fantastic opportunities available to join the exceptional team.
There will also be a chance to meet some of those who have featured in the show, including Mandy Gee, a Next Steps Mentor and Post 16 lead for Virtual School, and her dog Mabel who was shown helping to build bonds with one of the young people.
